Hey guys, the time has come to put rims on my car. I have some 18" rims picked out and i would like to know exactly what it would take to lower mycar an inch or two. I am not too familiar with this job and would LOVE for one of you experts to make a small list of all the parts and springs that i would need to aquire this drop. If you could recommend any brands that you or another CL member has completed this drop with and are impressed with the results please list them. I need to know what parts like struts, springs, coil overs, camber kit, anything like that in a list of brands would be amazing. Thanx a lot for your time, this would help me out a lot!!!

I'm using B&G springs (1.6" drop) and Tokico struts. I got them from www.shox.com, about $500 for springs and struts. Definately have an alignment done afterwards, I bought a camber kit (Eibach I think) from Tirerack and the alignment guy couldn't get it to work, bolt wasn't the right size or something. He got the camber right anyway, but the kit was a waste of money. Don't know if anyone else has used it with success, but it didn't work for me and it's still sitting in my garage collecting dust.

The rims fit well, 18x8, 40 offset with 225/40/18 tires; a little rubbing in the rear when the back's loaded down. (I had 4 people in the back of my car last Saturday, had to be real careful. :eek:
)
The recommended camber kit I bought from Tirerack didn't work properly. It might have been a fluke, but mine did not work. The camber is the vertical angle of the wheel, not sure if that's describing it quite right, but if you're camber is off you'll wear out the edge of your tires quickly. When lowering a car, it's common for the camber to be off so you wear the inside edge of your tires. A little too much camber can be good for handling if you don't mind eating tires.
My camber wasn't too bad after lowering, I'm not sure what the alignment guys did to get it back within specs but they ended up not using the camber kit since it didn't fit, I've had no problems with uneven wear on the tires.
