![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have just purchased a '99 ES 300 and am looking forward to learning more about it here in this forum! I have a quick question regarding the rear view mirror. I have read that the "auto-dim mirror w/compuss" that is made for the '98-'01 Camrey will fit the '99 ES 300? Does anyone know if this is true and if not does anyone know if the ES 300 is wired to accept ANY kind of auto dim mirror.
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.

The '97-99 use a universal mount, so you may put the Gentex mirror from the later model Camry/Solara/Avalon on it. You will need to run a wiring harness under the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into a harness in the driver's kick panel.
You may use the Camry kit (made by Gentex), a regular Gentex (same as Camry, except available w/o compass or with compass/ext temp) or a mirror from Magna Donnelly (used by Jaguar, Subaru, etc)
If the 96 ES had a universal mirror mount, I would have done this mod over the summer. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to devise a way to remove the proprietary Lexus mirror without harming my windshield...
Look for a thread started by CL member Luc, it has more details.

Yes, it is completely possible, I installed one in my friend's '98 ES. The Toyota part number is: PT732-33000, which is made by Gentex according to the paperwork that came with it. You can get any autodimming mirror with a generic mounting base. The cheapest place I saw was here: http://www.toyota-parts.com/partlist...81&ModelID=670 . If you do order from them, make sure you request a free T-shirt since anything over $99 gets one.
