Default Keyless help

Hey guys I've searched with no luck. I need some help. Every since the weather got cold my remote for my 2000 es isn't working. It has fresh batteries and the red light comes on. It's weird bc in the morning I press remote to unlock it doesn't respond. By the time I get to work it works. This also happens when I leave work it does not respond but when I get home it does. It just started this last night.

I cleaned contacts last night to no avail... I did notice sometimes red indicator is bright sometimes it's dim... Is the transmitter in key going bad?

I know you're saying it's fresh batteries, but I would double check that again. The most likely cause is that you either have the wrong batteries, or they are not providing full voltage, or that you got some cheap batteries that are not up to specs.

Failing that, a Lexus parts department is equipped to test your remote, and if they are nice, it should be free of charge. They will also sell you and install for you (free of charge) a good battery. Its around $5.00 so it's not worth waisting your time, with something else.

Not sure off hand, but check your owner's manual, or call the Lexus parts Departmentt. Alternatively someone with the same model, may chime in and confirm. A google search may also help?

It's still better to get it from Lexus, you'll be sure to get a good battery, a cheap battery may be part of a bad batch, or expired, especially if you're buying it from the same place that you bought the last one.

My 2 cents worth.

Phil

Over time the unlock and trunk buttons on my keyless remote became harder and harder to use. I would push the button and nothing, then smash the buttons and they would work sometimes. After a while they stopped completely, although the lock button still works perfectly from very far away.

I plan to try to fix this problem by buying a new remote off ebay and reprogramming it to my car at an electronics shop/ lexus dealer/ myself
