Question CAI (cold air intake) K&N or WPN*R??

greetings, i need to hear yall's opinions about which intake has more efficient impact on the engine (1996 es300 2ES).

1. weapon R - secret weapon air intake system
2. weapon R - dragon air intake system
3. K&N air filter that goes in the OEM CAI

i found bunch of other brands but they are not for 1996. (I'm not sure if 96 CAI will fit with other years?)

No, get the Secret Weapon. I have it on my 2ES and it's BADASS. The design of it gives you more power than the average intake, it comes with an air tube you can lead to your bumper vent for colder and better airflow, and it looks awesome in the engine bay.

I'm thinking about getting one on my 98 Es300, does that require making any modifications in the layout ? Also if my MAF is reading about 4 lbs/m full throttle on my stock intake system, what kind of top end airflow would I get taking in a custom CAI to the front bumper vent or something like that without making modifications besides installing the CAI.?

If you have the twin throttle, dont waste your time unless your prepared to spend 300-350 on the real deal intake. that POS that weapon-r sells for that 1MZ is pitiful. I chewed them out on it and they still havent returned my email

Imho I would just stick with stock intake, if I want the sound of an Intake I would just crack open the air box and I have the sound.

Close it up when you get bored of listening to it.

Pros: sound when you want it, silence when you don't, oh yeah how could I forget... cost = $0.00

Cons, not much on the "bling" factor.

not recommended if you really live in a huge dusty area.

In all honesty I just removed the bottom of the stock airbox and zip tied the filter onto the top half. The stock air filters are actually pretty big so that's some pretty good airflow. Plus it's in the exact same spot the Weapon R would be.

True but where I live is extremely dusty and the minimal gain from switching to a different type of filter isn't worth the risk. Plus what I did was free .
