Noooooooooooooooo!! I suppose it wasn't a complete waste as the rear was leaking bad and the odor was bad while driving. Now it is only at idle. I'll replace the o-ring gasket too, and hopefully that's the end of odor.

what is that torque spec? 18 N-m ? what does that convert to in ft lbs?

anyone have the toyota or lexus part # ?

I have already had this job done on my daily driver. i also bought a 93 parts car but I may salvage it. it starts, runs, fairly low K (130 K miles) . It has a squeal from timing belt tensioner or pulley, and the Y pipe is leaking. so while the Y pipe is off, great time to replace this o-ring before it leaks. also a good time to replace that lower motor mount that is sloppy.

Toyota part (same O-ring) is 90301-68005. Some pictures buried here http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/10...-saturday.html Torque is 19 NM, or 14 FT LBS

Could it also result in an oil sending unit leaking as well? Just curious

not sure where the sensor for the oil pressure sending unit is located, but i'm sure it's possible it could leak.

My motor leaks all over the rear manifold from the rear Valve cover gasket. My crank and cam seals leak as well. They were like that when I got the car nothing has made them better or worse. I'm guessing you can see smoke quite often too right?

I never once saw smoke, but it definitely stunk of burnt oil in the cab of car.

both those leaks are real crappy rotten jobs to fix.

Yes they are, especially that rear valve cover gasket , I'm swapping a new motor in mine anyway and I'll repair all the seals that normally leak on these motors before I even put it in.
One thing you could look at is the seal along the rear of the hood that will let smells in as well.
