Yet another reson why the ES ownz
This morning, after all the snow and ice storms we've been getting here in the southeast, driving on the roads is quite hazardous, especially here in KY where drivers act stupid in perfect weather, let alone in the snow.
Anyway, this morning I had to go and take pops to work because his Bimmer was stuck in the back of the steep driveway unable to move, despite traction and stability control. I bet he really regrets getting rid of our old Audi Quattro. With the other cars in the garage also being rear-drive, they obviously were not going to be able to go anywhere either. Being the good son that I am, I spent most of the day going back and forth between classes, carting my family around, and passing up dumb drivers in SUVs. Now the ES sits in the driveway, its days work done.
Yet again my good old ES saves the day. I will never sell this car...

well i hat to say this but my brand new accord fared better than my sisters 2000 lexus. They have the same exact tires. For some reason the lexus had traction at all. It was slipping all over the place. So i decided to test out my 1 day old 2003 accord ex v6. That thing just musled its way through the snow and ice. It slipped but not like the lexus. Then I decided not to get my new car too dirty and took out the suburban and put it in 4 wheel drive, no slippage.

nice to hear someone got a 2003 accord. hey jaymode is it a coupe or sedan?
the ES is really good about trying to lessen the amount of slipping around. we don't have much snow in texas. just blistering heat and freezing cold. I would prefer a awd in snow cases, but other than that the ES is fine.

Zeta,
it is a sedan. Satin silver metallic ex v6, I love it. Although I had to give up a 93 lexus es 300 with 140,000 miles on it that has engine problems, I really didnt mind. The styling of the car is sweet. It really looks agressive seeing that car in your rear view mirror. I love the features it comes with at the price too. I would have gotten an es/camry but I wanted better performance and honda have a better after market following.

I drove the ES through the whole winter last year, always did pretty well. This year I think I'm putting some snow tires on the old Buick and parking the Lex. I'll miss it but it'll keep wear and miles off the car, protect it from all the dangers of a Minnesota winter.

meZoom and all of you in non-snow climates....you're all so lucky!!!!!!
snow sucks
-spend $$$ on snow tires
-sports cars/ sports luxo sedans stay in garage (dad's M5)
-big rims come off, stock rims replace them
-pay $$$ for realignment etc....
-RWD + BIG HP = you're screwed
-car gets dirty=> more car washes
-manual is a b*tch
-more wear and tear on car structurally and mechanically
-rust potential- road salt
-danger of other drivers
-lack of control
-traffic jams
-idle time to get engine warm
-allow extra time for commutes
-Icing, fogging of glass
-IT'S COLD!!!!!!
i could go on......for college i'm definately heading south or west coast....hello STANFORD

I got my 4x4 all fixed up and ready to go own people...I would be pretty scared to drive the lex in the snow, especially because of the other crazy a$$holes out there drivin like its 1999...I was already rear-eneded once....luckily it wasnt in the lex..
Snowtires on the lex is a good idea
Lead foot = no traction

Snow everywhere...
Going wide into an empty intersection at 70km/h...
Yanking the E-Brake early before the turn...
Counter steer with wide open throttle...
Bouncing off the Rev limiter...
Sliding through the turn completely sideways... Priceless...
(I have been watching too much WRC )

Everybody take care on the roads out there, especially those of us with bad weather on the way.
