Difficulties with the gear shifter
Earlier I was trying to get my car to get out of the parking gear, but for some reason when i step on the brake to pull it down to neutral, it will not burged one bit. The only way i can get it shift out of the gear if i use the interlock button right on top of the shift gear. Does anyone have an idea, what could be causing this problem? 1999 es300

There is a solenoid that is part of the shifter mechanism, it may have failed, or there might be dirt and grime keeping it from moving properly. Tons of stuff drops down into that area.

RITlexus96-I only drove about 12000 miles since i have the car
Lexus2000- I think that might the cast also, I was reading some article last night on how this chevy had the same problem, and when he took the gear shifter apart, there was a this plastic pink part which was broken, but its purpose was to hold the shift in place as it moves and lock on.
