As much as I like the chrome rims, I may replace the 3 chrome rims with the standard rims to match the passenger side... the chrome makes them look smaller for some reason. I dont know, though... I'll change my mind back and forth 50 times before I do either one.

I'm going to do MAINTENANCE before I do anything else... that includes new timing belt kit job, fresh fluids, filters, complete tune-up and switch over to Amsoil 5w30 .I also feel something loose on the passenger side, so I'm going to have that checked out. I'm almost scared to look under the valve cover, but I will say that the tail pipe tip is so dry and free of oil/soot that the tip is rusted and corroding. I ran my fingers all along the inside of the actual pipe as far back as I could, and they came out CLEAN. I was shocked... even my Accord's tail pipe left some dark gray soot on on my fingers. It doesn't smoke whatsoever when I start it, and I also didn't notice any smoke of any kind behind me during a WOT run today to pass on a 2-lane country road. Should I pour in some Marvel mystery oil or something just in case?

I took it on a mini road trip today (130 miles) and it is definitely going to be a great highway car... I set the cruise at 70 mph and it just sailed down the road flawlessly. I can't wait to take it on a bigger trip such as back home to New Orleans (where I am originally from), after its received a clean bill of health. I'm sure all of the recommended tune-up stuff is buried somewhere on the forum, so I'll look it up.

Thumbs up

Very nice find and catch!
It sounds like you'll treat her well and continue improving her/maintaining her instead of letting her degrade. It's a tough fight, but very worth it.

Well, the Accord has been sold... I sold it to Carmax this afternoon. I was sad to have to walk away from it... I took it a lot harder than I thought I would... it's been a great car. So, it's just the Lexus and I... it begins its new life as my daily driver first thing tomorrow morning... at age 13 and 106k miles. I drIve 30K+ miles per year and I love to take long road trips... so wish me luck! I'll get to see what these cars are capable of...

If all goes as planned, I'd like to drive the car as a DD for at least 3-4 years, and then be able to buy a late model gen 2 GS400.

^ You mean, GS430...

400's were done in 98-00, then the 4.3L came out. Might as well make it a 3GS which will be my next one I have a feeling.

I've logged nearly 2,000 miles on the ES so far (almost 108k now) and so far, so good. I put new drive belts on it and everything else will soon follow. I did notice that the suspension moans, squeaks and the rear "creaks" over speed bumps and such when it's cold outside... but is quiet later in the day when it warms up. Otherwise, no concerns. Once the t-belt and tune-up is done, I'm taking it on a 1200 mile round trip to New Orleans for a visit around the first week of March or so. Can't wait to put it on the open highway and let it stretch it's legs. Will keep everyone posted.
