Default 97-01 ES Owners - Can you confirm this?

The airflow seems less strong coming from the passenger vents than the drivers side vents (both floor and dash). Could you set your airflow to 3/5 or 4/5 bars and tell me if the airflow feels of equal strength on both drivers and passenger sides, from both the floor, dash and defog vents? I'm trying to figure out if the blower is on it's way out, or if all 97-01 ES's are like this. Thanks!

your blower is on its way out.

Im sure you can do a check with a multimeter on the connector of the blower motor.

Charley, you may be right, but why would the OPs symptoms, be indicative of a bad blower?

not sure, but i know that many other vehicles it does happen to go out. maybe contact or some other electrical issue.

I am no professional mechanic, but I agree with Phil that it is strange that the passenger side (where the blower motor is located btw) would be less forceful than the drivers side. I'm wondering if there is something stuck/caught in the motor or vents (Yesterday I heard a whirling type sound for 2-3 seconds after I shut off the air). It is way too damn cold now, about 7 degrees, to go pulling parts so this will need to wait until the spring.

oh, i just realized that only 1 side blows low. I retract my statements. I thought overall setting 4/5 were blowing low. maybe there's something lodged or the flapper gates aren't completely opened.

The vents near the windows have always been a bit weaker then the center vents in my 2001 and we've had the car since new. I have never noticed a major difference between passenger and driver though

A general rule is that the center vents are always the most powerful.

Refer to my prost of last year on a related issue. I too was puzzled, but all is well.

The noise that you heard however may be related to something else, so if it reccurs, you'll need to chase it down.
