Front end rattle noise on my 1998 ES300
#16
I have posted this in another thread but worth repeating. My noise was attributed to brake pad movement, if the noise lessens if you apply the brakes replace the clips that hold the pads in the caliper. I was very surprised this was the cause of my rattle.

I just got done last weekend checking everything on my suspension (ball joints, control arms, strut mounts, etc, etc.) and everything is solid.
I did notice though a bad motor mount, the wishbone one. There was another thread where this took away the front end noise for a few guys so I am going to give it a shot. I may end up replacing them all but I will do one at a time so that I can try and diagnose this rattle/noise in the front.
I'm waiting for my part to come in the mail so I will post my findings in a few.

No luck on the wishbone motor mount. MrBooby in another thread found the solution to his front end noise though. It was his hood latch. He could make the noise by shaking the hood when it's closed. I will definitely check this out and give it a try:
