speaker question
so im installing my system within the next cpl weeks just waiting for kicker to release this yrs subs =D... any way i have a question
im installing a kenwood kac-7005ps 5 channel amp its rated at 40x4 + 300x1 rms...
my question is im looking to get the polk dxi6500 the reasoning is they have them at my job so i wont need to special order them and theyre the best ones we carry unfortunately....theyre rated at 100w rms now will that be a problem since the amp is only going to be giving them 40? should i get a speaker rated at a lower rms thts closer to what the amp is providing? will these speakers have a better sound quality than one rated lower even though its being underpowered? thanks for the help

But you can never underpower a sub or speaker and it be dangerous. Sound quality will be effected. Don't go to a lower speaker because these will give you room to grow. RMS of speakers only effect how loud they get before distortion. RMS of subs will of course be the measure of how loud it will get (among other factors such as shape and enclosure).
