Default Mystery about my wife's car

My wife's car is, 99, 86k miles. My wife called me tonight and said the check engine light came on and when it start it's very rough idle. Oh crap, it was raining very hard. I brought obd II to see the code and it was P0306(Cylinder 6 front far right coil). When I pop the hood and see with flash light. I couldn't believe my eyes, cylinder 6 wire was cut, I don't usually cover with the engine cover(v v t i cover). Is there possible the wire can be cut by rubbing? I don't see any marks inside the hood. If it was thief came in the car steal radio or gps and cut the wire, yes I understand but nothing missing nor broken window, only cylinder 6 wire was cut. Did any of you had the same issue before? I fix all my cars but never had this situation, I'm just blown away....

i didn't took any picture, I only took the plastic clip home so I can rewire it tomorrow when it's better weather. It was raining so hard I couldn't do any repair so i left the car as is. When I saw the cut it was some what clean cut. When I brought the clip with short length wire attached, so I experience with wire cutter and cut little piece off and it was very clean cut, but wires cut attached to clip was not that clean...

I checked today and yes indeed it was dam rodent. Wire cover were chowed off and bite marks and hole in air tubes. My wife works in city (Alston, MA) where full of rodent everywhere. I had to rewire the connection to cylinder 6 harness.
