Guys really need some help here.
I have a whirling noise that begins at about 35-40 mph and gets louder the faster I go. It's driving me nuts. I had the lexus dealer look at it and said it wasn't a bearing but he thought it was the tires. So here is my problem. I have no problem investing in tires, but the ones on the car only have about 10,000 miles on them and look brand new. Is there any way to make sure it is the tires before I drop $700 on new tires?
By the way, the previous owner put the tires on so I don't know if the noise was there before the new tires were put on.
Thanks!

What kind of tires are they? Look at tire rack for tire reviews, also discount tire. I like Michelin tires. I have Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S on my 04 ES and are still very quiet with over 55000 miles.

Are the tires showing any uneven wear pattern. Did the previous owner only replace the tires, or did the car also get a four wheel alignment right after the tire installation as recommended? Another thought is that better quality windshields are designed to reduce noises from the outside. If the windshield has been replaced with the less expensive non-acoustic control type, you would hear much more wind, and road noise.
Tires should be balanced and rotated every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. If they have not been done, in the last 10,000 miles, they are overdue.

They are Bridgestone serenity? The car needed an alignment right when I got it as well as a wheel balance. If the car was driven while needing both of those could it have damaged the tires to the point of making noise?
