Hey there, just got this 2003 ES300 with 91000 miles on the clock, I got it for a steal and while it is (I guess) the base model (cloth non-heated seats, no rear sunshade, no trac control and no HID lights) it is a blast to drive and it feels solid on the road and straight like an arrow.
While the car seems to be very well taken care of I have no previous maintenance history rather than what it says on the carfax so no clue if the timing belt has ever been changed (no sticker found anywhere in the engine bay) so that will be step N°1 (a quite costly one, but worth it I guess).
Coming from the BMW owner$hip experience I expect this car to be far more easy on maintenance and not having to spend big bucks other than the timing belt/ water pump change.
Later on I'm planning on doing a few mods to it, mainly a new 2 DIN stereo with bluetooth and HD radio and probably an LED swap of the interior, parking and tail lights.

Excited new owner ES330
Hello All!
Researched and searched for about 1.5 yrs looking for the right Lexus that met my criteria, finally found it:
2005 ES330
Low mileage = 74,500
Pretty good condition for it's age.
2 owner's - last owner kept repair receipts - he put a fair amount of money into it when he bought it 1.5 years ago - then his work moved him out of the country.(lucky me).
$7,000. not bad
Silver exterior and cream leather interior
Not a lot of options: 6 CD player, sunroof these were most important (no navigation, no heated seats, rather basic package).

Hello, I recently just bought a 97' Lexus ES300 for $1100 dollars, it has 130k miles and runs great. My plans are to keep it simple and clean. I have some small modifications already and I have a set of IS300 wheels + tires on the way. I picked up the wheels and tires for 400 bucks. I can't wait to keep up with the forums and share my progress with everyone. This is my first Lexus and I'm in love.

Bruce Lee - Thanks - now on to the detailing etc. Will you please let me know where I would post help for that my speakers to the audio went out last week. I've read this is a common problem and possibly not to hard to fix.

New to group
I have a 2000 Lexus ES300 and I am looking to replace the Timing Belt. It has 151,500 miles and I am looking to keep it running for awhile so I will be looking into getting rid of the bounce, not sure if I need anything more than struts and new shocks. How can I tell if the suspension system is I need of more parts? Hate to ask a garage because when they see a woman they see $$$ signs. All advice is very much appreciated.
Tell us some details about your new Lexus including:
- Model (ES300 or ES330) and package (ex - Coach) Standard Package
- Color of the exterior and Interior. BLACK/BLACK
- Options including Nav, etc. Standard
and a picture![/QUOTE]

Hi all, new to the forum,
We've owned a 2010 IS250C for the last 4 years, beautiful car that we use during the summer. (We're up in Canada)
I just picked up a well cared for 2003 ES 300 two weeks ago from the 2nd owner, a retired co-worker. 250k but well serviced with all the records. 8 Michelin tires (4 snows on steel + 4 on original alloys). I didn't need to buy it, but the price was right.
Not sure what color the ES is, looks kinda grey/silver. The body and undercarriage is remarkably rust and damage free, it looks almost as new. Leather interior, Levinson audio, HID lights, adaptive suspension, funky rear window sunshade but no NAV. The car runs perfectly, no warning lights on, no clunks, squeeks, thumps etc. It needs nothing for the safety check.
Now I have to decide to flip this newly purchased ES or keep it and sell our current second vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Yaris that just turned over 100k.
I realize the two cars are not in the same "league" but the Yaris is 4 years newer, has much less mileage, is spectacularly economical, easy to drive and park and if it breaks will be much easier/cheaper to fix. It goes without saying the ES is much more luxurious, bigger, safer, but will cost more to run and has more technical attributes that can go bad.
Both cars have similar current value on the used market.
I'd be interested to see what folks think.
Thanks,
Dave

The color and trim codes are on the drivers door jam marked under the letters with C / TR . If it is CQ 4 the color is called Alabaster. CQ 1 would be Milenium Silver.
My choice would be to keep the Yaris, The Lexus with 250 k is nearing the end of its good reliability to me.

Our cars are in kilometers, so 250k is approximately 155,000 MILES. If the car had 250k miles (>400,000 kilos) my decision would be much easier!
