If I was you I'd drive the car for a few thousand miles see how everything is before you dump a bunch of money into it. Drop the transmission pan and clean (this will get out about 1/3 the fluid) fill and see how the tranny responds.

99 es 300
Hey guys new member here but long time site user.
bought my 99 es 300 a few years ago. Replaced the timing belt and water pump last summer, bought a cheap water pump and the pulley fell of it last weekend... parts went flying under the timing cover and cracked the front cam pulley which in turn spun around the end of the cam and ground the cam pulley mounting surface and broke the alignment dowel hole. Tons of fun!!

Did the previous owner provide a list of what was done to it and when it was done? These are really nice cars but even so, every well aged car will need repairs. In the last year my '99 had a bunch of work done at the all at same time. For instance, when you replace the power steering pump it may increase the pressure inside the hoses. If the hoses are old they may leak and/or break. If you do any major repair like a valve job you will need to replace the radiator hoses, heater hoses, and possibly the old rack and pinion steering unit. That's because with something like a valve job you bring the pressure back to where it used to be and it will pump the fluids through the old rubber hoses, gaskets, and power steering unit with more pressure. If the previous owner has a list of what has been done you will be able to determine approximately how much you may have to spend in the future. Good luck, and welcome to club.

Any members live in the Bay Area that know how to do it please contact me and I will pay you $200 cash for your work. I pay for the parts.
I don't have the tools plus never work on a car before so I don't want to take a chance on DIY. Thank You.

Hello
Hi Folks. I'm new to the site, recently purchased an '04 330. I've spent the last few weeks getting fluid changes up-to-date and a few blemishes touched up. Next on the list is rear rotors and pads. Love the CL site—great resource. I know I'll be very appreciative of any advice I get from CL members in the future! Cheers!

Hey all.....I've been lurking since I got my 2000 es last year.i was a regular on turbobricks, but I've fallen out of love with old volvos. The es has 215k with the dreaded cel and tsc lights. Replaced both ks, but to no avail.....anyways, here's a few photos....

I've replaced both sensors, harness, bypass hose thermostat, plugs......I heard from somewhere that it could be an issue with the egr valve? I dunno, I would love to have o/d whenever I want it, ha ha.

First Lexus
Hey everyone,
This is my first Lexus, I picked up a 1999 ES300 with 177,000 miles on it. This forum has already been mad useful so thank you everyone for your Lexus knowledge. I can’t believe how this car drives, from this point forward it’s Lexus or walk..

Hello all. Glad to be a member and new Lexus owner!
I got my '99 ES300 about a month ago. Less than 107k when purchased, came with a stack of service records... I'm pretty happy with it. It's nice to drive something without just waiting for whatever will break next (as was the case with my Saturn [long, sad story there]). It's not as "fun" but I've realized how much more I enjoy typical driving.
It does have a few issues I wasn't aware of. A week into ownership I took it from the Detroit area to Cincinnati and back in a night and discovered some significant oil loss. Turns out there was a PCV issue and VC gaskets needed replacing, so I had those taken care of.
I plan to change struts this month, and there are a couple other things I'll probably be making posts about soon. I have a bit of paint work to do, and I had an unfortunate encounter with some deer a couple weeks ago... resulting in surprisingly minimal damage. So, here's a pic of its good side.

Hello fellow ESer's
Not new to me anymore. 2003 ES300.
I bought it several years ago with 159000 miles, now has almost 365000.
I have been referencing the forums for several years since I do all my own repairs. I finally decided to register today.
