Whirring noise from engine.
95 ES300 with 240K Service history unknown. Reviving this car from a hibernation.
Engine runs smooth but I get a whirring sound when engine is running. Sounds like a bearing that is going bad. Possibilities I guess on the drive belt are water pump, alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor. Or It could be the idler bearing on the timing belt. I thought I'd remove the drive belt and start the car to see if the whirr is still there. If not, I can spin each item to feel for coarseness in rotation. If it's still there, has to be the Idler bearing, which will then mean full timing belt service.
Does that cover everything?, Any thoughts, suggestions, experience with this? Any parts prone to this ?
Thanks for your replies.

Anything that rotates can make excessive noise, you need to narrow it down. Remove the alternator and power steering belt and see if the noise is still there, if it is then it is probably the idler or tensioner bearing, or water pump.
