Question Uh oh??? Not in neutral when turning crank!

2000 es300 with 190,000.

I'm changing my timing belt, water pump, pulleys, etc... for the first time. I found TDC with no problem. Took a break and was reading somewhere that I should have put the car in neutral!!!!

Did I damage anything?????

The position of the transmission gear selector has no effect on the job you're doing, zero. Where did you read this anyway? On a manual transmission yes, it would prevent you from turning the engine, but not on an automatic like your car.

I read it online but it was not on this site. I was reading some website talking about general timing belt changing.
Thanks for your assistance
