well my mom's car brakes were feeling weird
the brake fluid was BLACK, so i flushed the whole thing with some DOT 4 ATE super blue!
it is much more firm.. also sanded down the glazed pads a little bit, i didn't touch the rotors and the squeeking is gone..
but the big problem is her outer caliper pin boot seems to be tearing.. when i took off the caliper pin, it was almost dry.. (i used permatex purple on it) last time, and it was almost dryish
i made sure i re greased all 4 pins up front
and now the brakes are buttery smooth.. but i'm worried about the dust boot thing..
do i have to replace/rebuild the whole caliper/caliper bracket?
oh i also broke a lugnut![Sad](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif)
thanks in advance as always guys!

You can buy just the boots from Amazon, Ebay, Rockauto etc. you don't have to buy an entire caliper. Permatex purple sucks, I've had it seize up like glue so I avoid it at all costs now. 3M silicone paste is my preferred choice.
Replacing a broken stud is easy.

i'm guessing last time i was at the shop they torqued the hell out of it, came out to like 185 ftlbs when i tested a few lmao.. but one just snapped... :/
what about replacing a caliper boot? is it easy? do i have to take off the caliper/bracket?
i thought permatex purple was for racing, and it had raving reviews..
i noticed.. i was like WTH?!!?!? i put alot of grease last time :| and i thought this was the good stuff!!
thanks i'll go with 3M silicone from now on, how often did you regrease with permatex?

Permatex purple works well until it gets very cold, then it's like glue.

hmm any more insight on how to just replace the pin boot? i'd rather not take off the whole caliper and mess with it, as i just did the brake fluid..
and speaking of brake fluid, i bled furthest from the master cylinder first, (rear right, rear left, front right front left)
i noticed that air bubbles only came out of rear right, and all the other sides just had old dirty fluid, and i bled till new blue fluid came through.. is this normal?
i may have gone down a little low on the master cylinder on one side.. (this was my first time)
but there doesn't seem to be any air bubbles in the system, and the brake pedal is rock hard.
