Default I need help!

My 99 ES 300 is broken... They as in the dealership said that it's my vvt. I had changed my spark plugs and coil packs due to a different code being thrown from. It said random misfire 1,3,5... So i changed them... My catalytic converter was glowing red when it ran like crap. when i say ran like crap that means the car isn't always running horrible. But when it does the misfiring is pretty violent.. It'll run beautiful for a day, no problems. Then the next it is back at it again.

I caved in and went to the dealership and they had thought it was my timing belt for sure.... But they checked that, it'sgood. The came to a conclusion saying it could be my vvt and that they would have to rip the whole engine apart in order to see if it is... Now if anyone has ever had to do this you know its NOT cheap...

When i come to a complete stop my brakes are almost rock hard and the car is going nuts misfiring. When i accelerate the car misses, and when im cruising the car cuts in and out about every 20-35 seconds. The car has 195000 miles on it. The timing belt was changed in 05, new plugs, new coil packs. Newish battery... HELPPP ME!

you sure the coilpacks are the right ones? and the spark plugs are the right model?

having a glowing red cat means you are running super lean or running at an advanced timing where it generates a lot of heat because the exhaust isn't able to let all the heat escape properly.

i say if the diagnostic cost is too much, just get an engine swap.

Coil packs are correct, and the plugs are iridium. The car is in the shop as i type. I will keep it posted.
