My 2005 ES330 is idleing high,1200RPM on start, then it idles fine 800RPM after running, I cant tap the gas pedal to get it down, I just replaced the upper motor mount(dogbone) and don't want to do it again, my ck engine light had came on and I replaced the gas cap at auto zone, where they turned off the light after replaceing, the code was" small emission leak", am hopeing its something simple, has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be.In the ole days it would be the automatic choke. Thanks for any help.

Became obvious after I re set ECU,and assumeing no vacuum leaks, that it is a sensor,,,which sensor? On cold start or first start, the engine idles high1200 RPM, after waiting 30 seconds to a minute it doesn't die down to 800RPM, but after 2minutes to 3minutes it will slowly drop to 800RPM, and stays ok until next cold start(1 to 3 days), I am seeking clues as to which sensor?

Thanks Mit, it is a bit low, about 2 inches below the full level, I will add the pink stuff(Toyota Anti freeze) tomorrow and see what happens, very thoughtful of you, such a minor thing, but Im such a perfectionist.I will post back after I fill.

I filled radiator overflow tank, ran car to normal temp, next day same thing, takes 3 minutes to idle back to 800RPM, It must be a vacuum leak or sensor. Still seeking solveing the problem.

Reset the ECU. If you did so recently. This is also why. After it adjusts to your driving it will be normal. Mine will idle too low after an ECU/battery reset. No need to worry about mechanical issues lol

I agree with hypervish above. It is suppose to idle high at start up. It will slowwwllllyyyyy drop do 750 rpm once the engine warms up. I think the ECU is over compensating with more gas in the gas/air mixture until the enginre reaches it's operation temperture.

Thanks for all the input, I will take into consideration all that was posted as I persist in my perfectionism. Since last post my engine light came on, the code was small emission leak. A,new gas cap, and further testing with smoke detecting device(cigar) should reveal the ghost Ive been chaseing, I will re post once problem is dissolved.

My car idles at 1500 on start. and if the temperature is below the lowest mark, it won't shift to gear 3 if the RPM is below 3k.
When the temperature goes above the lowest mark, everything goes back to normal. I.e. it can shift to any gears at approximate 2k and idle at 800.
Is there a problem or it's normal? I'm having a 98 es300 with 140k. I normally drive the car below 2K RPM. (70% of the time.)
