Talking Razo Shift with O/D Switch

Hey, how did you change the original shift **** to Razo Shift ****?
I have 97 ES300 and I've been trying to figure out how to take the original shift **** and install the Razo exactly like yours. Give me some detail on how you changed it, especially how you take off the original one? Thanks for your help!! Keep up the good works on your ride!

I have to take this and use for my own questioning. Has anyone with the '91-'01 year change their rear-view mirror to the new one with the Auto-Dimmer and Compass? I went to the dealer yesterday and those guys said that it couldn't be done because there is a different mount in the roof that is required for the mirror.... Any Suggestions?

Hey sorrano, I'm only eighteen and can do it, I'm sure you can also. Just don't be afraid to tackle a challenge. You'll be surprised with what you can do if you want it bad enough. If you want a more detailed description than I'll help you, thats what this site is for. If not then oh well, I hope you're happy with your lights as-is.

Lex Diamonds, you can use the '02 and up mirror, since it uses the same windshield mount button as the '97-'99 prismatic (flip dimmer) mirrors. Wiring is easy--a couple of wires under the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into the fuse panel. There was a Toyota dealership selling them on the web for $99--my friend bought one for his Pontiac. They're made in Michigan by a company called Gentex --the same mirror on the newer ES can be found in many vehicles, including a lot of GM products.

92-96 folks have to take the factory button off due to its odd size/shape. That's a careful process with a putty knife and rubber mallet (it took me a while to find a glass shop willing to remove the mount on my '96). I went ahead and bought a Nissan/Infiniti mirror with auto-dim, compass, and HomeLink.

Found it, I' ll probably buy it today or tomorrow. I'll probably have to come back to you if I run into any complications or the dealer come to me with some crap.

Thanks Man!

ok - the toyota dealer just fed me some crap over the phone. Do you think it would be best to go the route you went and visit the local Nissan Dealer and get the fit for the 350Z?

Here's the solution: Go to http://www.toyotaparts4u.com/ , and indicate on the order form that you have an '00-01 Camry. The kit with mirror/harness should be $99 (at least it was back in July when my friend got his). Don't confuse them--the windshield button is universal, and the wiring rudimentary--a hot and ground.

BTW, when I went to the parts counter at Nissan, I told them it was going on an Altima

Edit: You can go the Nissan route if you feel the HomeLink is worth the additional $160 ($259 vs $99). I figured since I was going through the difficulty of removing the '96 stock mirror, I might as well go for the top of the line.
