Default What should I pay for this service

Hi guys,

I am in the process of buying a 2006 ES330. The car needs:

timing belt, tensioners
Water pump
Coolant
Thermostat
Spark plugs.

I am wondering what I should pay for this service. I am not stuck on the Lexus dealer doing this, an qualified independent is fine with me.

thoughs?

Thanks!

How about negotiating with the dealer to get these done before you purchase it?

I like the idea of negotiating the service into the purchase. Those parts should be replaced every 100k miles. With today's $100/hr shop rates, you're looking at around $1000 for the timing belt, and probably a few more hundred for the spark plugs, because one does not depend on the other.

maybe an independent shop would do it for $1000, but if you make some calls to toyota, or lexus, i think you'll find you'll be paying upwards of $1500
