Default Front Control Arms

I'm looking to change my lower control arms on a '98 ES300. The 97 SM says to remove the drive shaft to remove the control arm. Doesn't make much sense to me since there are no connections directly to the drive shaft. I have a Haynes repair manual for a 97-01 and it makes no mention of removing the drive shaft. Does anyone know for sure if the drive shaft has to be removed.

You do not need to remove the drive shaft the lower control arm. You are probably looking at the wrong section.
