Flex Pipe
Mechanic telling me the Flex portion of the Exhaust pipe needs replacing and that would be the entire pipe from front to the C Convertor?? $800 plus - must replace the entire thing? anyone with suggestions or comments??

Anything exhaust related can always be cut and welded. At the end of the day, it's just a metal pipe. The mechanic probably just wants to make it easier, so a complete unit replacement would be the way to go. I personally recommend to weld in a new piece, because I had a bad experience with aftermarket exhausts - they don't fit as well as OE.

It is also hard to make the aftermarket flex pipe fit as the lexus exhaust is double walled. Here is what I did explained at the bottom of this link. Just make sure you know your car is a federal emissions car. If it's a cali, all you have to do is get the manifolds too.
