Default 2002 ES300, Potential Buyer

Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a 2002 ES300 Mystic Sea with 48k miles. My question is what do I need to look out for on these used ES's? Please, I know Lexus are wonderful, use to own a 93 GS and loved it. Anything major I need to check out to avoid potential headache.

Info on car:
One owner
Carfax is clean
Mint interior
Blemishes in paint, scuffs, nothing to horrific

Car drives amazing, everything looks to be in great shape. Advise please, looking forward to joining another cool car forum. I also own a 04 GTO, and a 99 TL.

The drive by wire system is flaky in these cars, some are bothered by it others not. Drive the car and decide for yourself.

Thanks for the info. I am reading too many negatives for me to pull trigger on the ES. Back to the drawing board.

Well I bought the car any way, it runs so well I couldn't let it go. 48,508 gently driven miles by an old lady!

You won't regret it!

I read tons of negatives about the DBW before I bought my 4es, and yes it occasionally has a hiccup and lags, but you learn to drive around it.

The positives of the car totally make up for the DBW, no doubt about it.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd still buy the 4ES.

Thanks man, so far its really amazing! It reminds me of my 93 GS300 back in the day but way advanced in ride quality. The car is so quiet, and smooth. Kinda not used to it being that I drive a 5.7 liter GTO. Its a perfect pickup for the wife for daily driving. I am going to create a newbee thread with pics.

Well crap! While driving over to the emissions testing the CEL came on, code triggered is P0440. Wife put the first full tank in since we bought it and I am hoping she didnt screw the gas cap on correctly or its loose. I am going to check the hoses, and everything I can tonight. Suggestions welcome! I really hope its not the Charcol canister as the car has low mileage still.
