![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
If a person keeps really good care of their ES300, and always changes the oil, doesnt beat on it, etc etc, how many miles will it go before needing a new engine/tranny ? I know it can vary, but I just want an overall estimate?

You'll most likely need a new tranny somewhere around 150K, if not before. As for the engine, its fairly bulletproof. If properly maintained, 300K + is not out of the question.

I've got over 227,500 miles on my ES. Original engine and trans. It leaks and burns a little oil, but it runs very, very well. And I do a lot of 75 mph cruising with the air conditioning running. Doesn't seem to strain the car. But a Lexus dealer mechanic told me these engines don't run gradually worse and then die. He said they run normally, then die suddenly at some point.
