Where do you take your ES for an oil/filter change?
#16
My question is who would want an oil change in under 1/2 an hour. Anyone that's ever changed the oil in a car that has dirty broken down oil will tell ya you're just getting into the "good stuff" after 30 min of draining an dripping. It'll still be dirpping an hour later.
IMHO If people can't take an hour's time every four/six months to take care of their vehicles, they shouldn't be allowed to own a vehicle.
It's like my grand daddy said when he bought a new tractor. If I can afford a new tractor I can afford to build another barn to house it in.
If you can afford a car that's upscale, you can afford the gas in it and you can afford to take care of it.

Hey Xenon, I never mentioned about the "29-min deal" for those Toyota oil changes, never heard of it either. But for $22 with quality Toyota oil and filter and a 15 to 20-min wait, you can't go wrong with it. It's been talked about many times before... most of the services and maintenance work on your ES can be done at a Toyota dealership for a much cheaper cost, but not all Toyota 'ships will touch a Lexus for whatever reason, so you'll have to check your local one to make sure. Like Lexus, Toyota provides free loaners like Camrys and Corollas for certain service work.

Why is this bumped all the way up here? anyway....
I take mine to the Lexus dealership... Mobil 1 oil.
Also, I love the loaners....So far I have received an IS300, ES300, ES330, and an RX330. I just need to get a GS now.

I used Redline Motor Oil 5w30 ever since my car stepped to 5000 miles.
It runs preety good considering its nearly 13000 miles now !!
And how do i document it if i change my own oil??

Save your receipts for your parts and document it w/a log including date and mileage you did the maintenance.

I used to take it to the toyota dealer at state college, pennsylvania before i moved out to NYC.
Costs me $45 bucks for 100% fully synthetic oil and OEM filter.
I did my last service at Lexus of Manhattan and I think I got a real bad deal. Had to go there
because I needed to fix a couple of other things like my fuel door springs being broken.
I only got a usual oil change (not 100% synthetic). And I got charged $60 bucks for that.
And then, they also charged me $1.50, to top my my washer fluid, even though I just filled it
up a week before and used it for 3-4 sprays at most.
Now, after 1 year using synthetic, and back on regular oil, I can really feel the difference in the
engine. Especially noticeable in the mornings during warm up, the pedal feels heavier to press.
Also during merging into the highway, the car feels more reluctant to speed up.
Next time, I will insist on 100% synthetic. And I probably wont do it at Lexus again, but at Toyota.

I do it at a local Toyota dealer. They have a window separating the waiting room and their service room. Hence, you can watch them work on your car. Also, they have a clean process. They do not leave a mess inside of the car or under the hood.

i just do it myself
turns out to be pretty easy once you get the hang of it. and plus if you do it yourself, you wont have some fool over torque the drain plug
my friend went to some place because he was in a hurry, needed to replace the drain plug the next oil change because he found out it was almost stripped bare.

For anyone who's interested in learning how to change their own oil in their ES, here's a write-up I composed a while ago. Enjoy
