Default Bet you never heard of this? Weird OD issue

So 95 ES300, 162k miles

So outside of random comes and goes ECT POWER light comes one when parking lights are on. Button does nothing until i turn lights off to see if it is set to on or off.

New issue my OD will not engage unless ECT POWER is on. If i turn it off car shifts into 3rd and will not go into OD. Turn it on car shifts to 4th and is fine. No slipping what so ever or in any gear. Did a drain and fill a earlier in the year.

Only grounds i could find were the 2 on the passenger side on the torque strut. Both were good.

Any suggestions?

That is a strange problem. Only thing I can think of is bad connections on the switch, or intermittent/bad connection in the wiring harness somewhere. Maybe the wires have chafed from the shifter moving back and forth?
