Default 02 es300 electrical glitch

Hi everyone. This is my first time using your forum. I hope I'm doing it right. I have recently bought an awesome 2002 es300 with 35k. Travelling yesterday with the seat warmers on for the first time, I engaged the cruise control and 30 seconds later the cruise control cuts out, so I re-engaged it and 10 seconds later it cuts out again. Weird. Then I'm watching my dash and the square light for the gear selection on dash starts to flicker for 5minutes then goes out completely. The car is running fine and I started to turn off all un-nesessary options. No trouble lights came on dash. Not until I got stopped in a traffic jam did the drive selector dash light come back on and remained on the rest of the trip (70 miles). I didn't use the cruise again for fear that something in electrical system fails and strands me. The car ran fine the whole time but I'm concerned about an electrical issue. Oh yeah, a couple of times when I first leave, I have heard the belt squeal for 3 or 4 seconds then stop. Hope I"m not too long winded here? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Ed.
