Whirl/roar noise from rear at startup
So I've searched this issue pretty hard online, there was only one person reporting this problem back in 2005 which was never solved. When I start my 92 es300 sometimes there will be a whirl/roar low tone noise coming from what I believe is the rear of the car. The noise makes a climax then fizzles out, totaling about 10-15 seconds(I know, that sounded bad...go ahead and laugh). Its been going on since I got the car, about 10k miles ago...doesnt seem to make a difference if its hot or cold, and I cant find a pattern as to when it will make the noise(seems to go through periods where it will do it on every startup, then quit for some time after).
I think fuel pump, which should probably be replaced after 160k anyways.

I owned a 1993 Camry that had a similar "problem". I think it has something to do with the exhaust system, hot air gets trapped or something and when you go to start the car again, the excess air gets pushed out. I could be wrong, but whatever makes the noise, it doesn't harm anything.
I wouldn't worry about it, also the fuel pump on these cars rarely fail so don't go replacing it just because, unless you want to try and isolate the noise.

I work some odd hours and the car has currently entered that period where its not doing it anymore. Ill post back with the best video I can(I only have a samsung galaxy s2 to record it), but it might be a while....it really sounds like what the second poster stated.

Odd noises can be things like a worn tailpipe hanger causing a vibration that transmitts through the body, making a seemingly unrelated sound. My wife often reports noises in her ES300 as a "shoo-shoo-shoo noise" or a tum-tum-tum sound. She does this by waking me up at zero dark thirty when she goes to work and I have to sleep due to a later schedule. OHHHHH!
