Default Interesting mechanical mystery on 93 ES300

So my alternator went out and I made it to my garage just as the car died. The battery is new so I checked the box of parts I had pulled off a 93 ES300 that is in the junkyard. I had an alternator I payed 5 bucks for so I threw it in problem solved BUT - now one of my LED's that was previously burned out is now working on and off, on the speedometer? Could they not be getting enough juice? It never showed a sign of life since I bought the car. Just thought I would ask if anybody else has seen this before. Thanks.

By LEDs do you mean the illuminating needles? Those always flicker a bit, seemingly whenever they want to. Try turning down the brightness on the cluster and they might stay lit.

I got mine about a year ago and we had to get another alternator at the junkyard due to the old one messing up. All my needles flicker on and off too but my dad bought it (es300) for me for $400 since it was just sitting in the guys yard for idk how many years

When we bought the es300, we needed to jump the car from the guys yard. The alternator was messed up from the moment we bought the car plus it had a leak in the head gasket.

huh, weird. I will try that trick.

Those alternators appear deceptively easy but that one long bolt sure messed with me.
