I have 6 speakers in the front and 2 on the rear deck. they are all pioneer factory speakers. Does anyone know how many watts its running. Someone tould me 300watts. I dunno. But if someone can just explain to me what kinda of system i have that be great. Thanks

It's the stock Pioneer system. 8 speakers, 180 watts. It was developed specially by Pioneer for this car. Sounds pretty nice for a factory stereo.

I wonder what happened over the years.
The '02 Premium sound system is only 7 speakers and 86 watts, I believe it is still Pioneer. Though, I had heard once that it was JBL. The Mark Levison system is 7 speakers and 240 watt.

Oh well, I still like the stock sound.
enjoy.

I'm pretty sure the '02 ES stock system is more than 86 watts. The old stock 7-speaker stereo on the 2nd generation was 195 watts, while the optional Nakamichi was 230. I've heard the system on the 2nd generation ES300, and it sounds a little nicer than my first-gen system. I would assume the '02+ would sound better. I think the '02 has at least 180 watts in the base system. The Levinson has 240. I'e also heard somewhere that the base system on the '02 is JBL. Then again, I've read that it's a Pioneer also. Although I may be getting confused because I believe that JBL and Mark Levinson are owned by the same parent company- Harmon/Kardon. Anyone else know anything?

I remember reading when the 02 came out that the base system is only 86W. I wonder if that means it has no amp other than the head unit. I knew the 1st gen was 180W and the 2nd gen 195W. I wonder if they cheapened the base system to up-sell people to Mark Levinson. I know 1st gen has an amp under the passenger seat and 2nd gen has an amp behind the glovebox.

I'm very satisfied with the 1st gen system, I like the 8-speaker setup, especially the speakers that reflect sound off the windshield. Pretty good bass for a system with no sub.

Hmm, I guess the '02+ base system is indeed 86 watts. I figured the sub at the back would be amplified, but then again, maybe not.

When it says like 300 watts, all that means is that you will get that power out of all the channels put together when your car is like struck by lightning. The small amp that they give u in that car does no produce that much power. Even though my factory amp sounded ok. After I put in 3 amps that have the same power as the " factory amp" my sounds was much louder and clearer. Just my thoughts.

Man...I figured something was missing. Looks like the guy that traded this car in or the dealer where I bought it took out the factory setup (speakers) and left me with trash cause my speakers are sooo flat sounding, you'd mistake them for Sunday morning breakfast. I've got some Cerwin Vega 6x9s for the rear and 6.5s" for the doors I'd like to install. BTW...I need some Ammmpppsss!!!
