P1349 code
Hello,
I recently had a burnt ignition coil on my cyl #5 that I replaced. However a few days later i got the code P1349. (2000 ES300)
The car is perfectly fine when its cold (Not in operating temperature). Once it warms up however the idling becomes very rough and if im in a stop and go traffic my brake pedal become stiff, very stiff sometimes.
I read all 15 pages of this thread and im still confused about a couple of issues. so PLEASE help me if you can. (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...ve-filter.html)
People talk about clogged filters but i cannot seem to find a part number for the bolt/filter they are talking about. Does it come with the Oil Control Valve or is it sold separately??
Does the OCV needs to be changed or just the filter, or both?
Do you have any part numbers for those?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!!

this will probably help https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ement-diy.html
sounds like more than just a clogged a filter. that is exactly like my car right before i changed an ocv. then the problem went away. i suppose it could just be a dirty ocv, but i don't know how much luck you will have after it is cleaned.
hope that helps.
ps. this site is pretty good for cheap parts http://www.rockauto.com/

This forum is great !!! Could any of the Lexus experts please provide me with some insight regarding the CEL code 1349! I have a 2000 Lexus ES300 which appears to be having problems with the variable timing system after having a recent oil system flush. I am receiving a CEL code P1349 and the car is idling rough, along with hard shifting and a stiff brake pedal. The code and the symptoms appear to be related to the VVT system. I read some of the posts and started with OCV. I removed both OCVs, cleaned them and tested them by hooking directly to the battery and they both seemed to be working. I also removed both the OCV filters and cleaned them thoroughly, re installed everything and reset the code. It ran fine for a few minutes and it started idling rough and the dreaded 1349 code reappeared its ugly head again.
Are there any other areas I can check without doing a major overhaul.
Did I forget any steps.
Was I supposed to manually advance the timing after cleaning the OCV valves.
What else can cause the dreaded P1349 code.
Thanks for any input.

Update:
Changed the OCV and have driven the car for about ~200miles...
It runs smooth and everything is back to normal...
Well almost everything, I have to pass emissions and now its spitting a P0420(Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1) code.
So, by which O2 sensor is that code triggered by? (I hope it's not the cat that went bad)
PS. how many driving cycles do i need to reset the computer so i can go to emissions???
Thanks as always
