Should i rebuild my lexus engine or replace it with another used engine?
So finally i was being told to me by my mechanic that my car engine is very weak (he said some major problem is going on) and my car engine needs to be overhauled or replaced
I own 2005 es300 with 285k miles
Very clean from both in and outside
Maintained very well
Installed new oem shocks (all)
New break pads and disc (all)
New michelin tires (all)
New steering pump
New headlights , backlight, new xenon (bosch) and new ballast
Now my question is should i sell my car or rebuild. My car engine or replace?
Total cost to rebuild and replace
With labour cost etc around 2300 dollars with 1 year warranty)

Don't do anything until you get a second or even a third opinion from recomended mechanics, as to what exactly is wrong with your engine. Ask them what they recomend that should be done to fix the problem, and how much it will cst.
Do you yourself know what is wrong with your car?

I mean 285k is reasonable for an engine I guess. It depends how much you like the car. I feel like if you already did all that work to it and you still enjoy the car $2300 isn't really a lot compared to the price of a new car

Given what you put into it, I'd put in a used engine once you've verified (via other opinions) that the engine is not salvageable. Your car is probably worth $5-7k, so $2k on an engine is not out of question.
Are you sure you have 285K miles on a 2005 ES330? Or an older ES300? Where do you drive ?

And its a licensed shop and i know them and there work very well they are good!

That changes things, that's like 160k miles, technically an engine shouldn't go bad that early unless it's really been abused/neglected/ been in bad conditions. That being said, $2300 still isn't a lot

I dont know just bought this car a month ago
I know it that there are so many things to change but looking at the exterior and interior it was in mint condition!
And now i have spent so much money on this car so i dont think so it would be good selling this car!
Btw normally how much the oem shocks and strut cost? ( i think i have bought little expensive mines are from eibech

It seems like you are having a lot of problems for a car with relatively average mileage for the year of the car.
I would get a 2nd opinion before doing anything but I probably would dump the car if I had to get another engine.

Can you tell us specifically what the mechanic said is going on? I overhauled a yard engine for my 98es with 180k miles on it to replace my 200k sludged engine (#1 rod bearing evaporated). In total I spent $550. $450 for yard engine and $100 for gaskets and seals. Bearings, rings and everything else were in excellent shape. Now my es runs like new and drives great. I would say if things are what they are and without major problems just overhaul it.

285,000 km is nothing for these cars. Your car has been neglected if you say the head gasket is blown. In that case, you probably have a plethora of other maintenance items to catch up with if the previous owner did not care of this car, such as timing belt, struts, sway bar linkages, water-pump, maybe the valve cover gaskets, etc.
I think you bought a lemon and should dump it unless you bought it at a significant discount to justify spending $2000 on an engine.
I cant believe someone would do this to a Lexus.

Sounds like a fixable car. Put that $2300 toward a rebuild or shop around and buy a used engine with low miles and put it in. I'd rather fix your current car than go out and buy another car and have a payment and that does not guarantee that the car won't break. With your car at least you know it's history.
