Thumbs up 1993 ES300 Won't Start

Hello everyone
It's my first time here....so please be gentle.....haha

I've only had my 1993 ES300 for a day. My brother picked it up &drove it for an hour to deliver it to me without any problem at all. He & I then took it for a drive (my first time in it) & it was running perfectly. As the fuel was running low I refuelled....bringing the level to about 1/4 tank.

We then took it out about an hour later....& after about 5 minutes we were going up hill & the car began to lose power. It slowed to walking pace and began to "chug chug" up the hill. It came good then but for the remainder of the drive it did do the same a couple of more times.

Five minutes from home the engine lost power again and eventually just died. I haven't been able to start it since. All the dash lights work fine & it doesn't seem like a power issue. When I turn the key the engine turns over but won't "catch" and start ?

I have no mechanical knowledge at all so I don't even know where to start ? My first thought was is is possible I've put a bad batch of fuel in it ? I've put a bottle of "injector cleaner" in the tank but so far it's made no difference in trying to start the car ?

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated

Something unrelated to that issue but to do with the car....the car has 19" diameter rims & low profile tyres on it....they look great but are not very practical. Going over any sort of larger bumps leads to the tyre rubbing on the underside of the guards

My question is what would be the largest diameter rim & "fattest" tyre I could safely fit ? I do like the wider tyre and would like to fit some nice rims & wide tyres on it....but obviously I want it to be safe

Thank you for reading & providing this site for me to learn more about My Lexus
It's a beautiful little car....I'd just like it working at its best
Warmest regards

Jonesy

Check to see if you are getting fuel and spark. Also check to see if your timing belt is OK.

How many miles is on the car? Have seen the rotor inside the distributer come apart at around 100k.

Sounds like a fuel problem.
Have it checked.
Fuel pump is the common cause.
Or, if you're not sure, try to clean your MAF with some spray.
Best of luck

IMO fatter tires will make the ride bumpier, but the looks will be alot sinister
