Default transmission problem

I bought a 2000 ES300 last week with 140,000 miles. THe car is in fantastic shape. THe guy I got it from had it at Toyota in charlotte and had a new vavle body put in at a cost of 1200. I drove the car about 350 miles and the trans went out. Or so I think. I was at the store and backed out and it jumped like neutral, when I let off and wait a few seconds it worked fine. The next day I drove to church and when leaving it did it again. This time it wouldn't go but 5 mph. it got up to about 30 slowly and then leaving the redlight it got up to speed(60) and it worked fine. Slowed and made a turn and got up to speed and it acted as if I hit the brakes hard. I guess it was down shifting on its own. When I turned onto my road it wont go at all. it would move inches at a time. And it wont go into reverse at all, even in neutral it wouldn't roll back. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong with it. And no lights came on at all.

Is the fluid burned?

Hopefully its something as simple as a transmission shift solenoid.

That sucks. I didn't know an ES300 trans cost that much.

Did you check if there is enough transmission fluid? The right type of transmission fluid?

I just rebuilt my tranny on my 95 es300. I got it done for $2013. This price wasnt only just for the rebuild, I had an axle and a motor mount changed, they also had to swap out the torque converter. I suggest you go to some other places, 3300 is atad high. I recommend a shop that specializes in trannys and have been open 20+ years.
