Default fan clicking noise

The fan in my 2001 ES300 started making noises, like a fan blade was hitting something.
Has someone else had this problem and let me know what it is and how to resolve the
problem.

Thanks!

I assume that the noise is there with the ignition and fan on but engine off. (just to confirm its not an engine noise)

I dont know if youre referring to the heater fan or the radiator fans., if the Radiator fans It could well be hitting something. Make sure the car is Off, and spin the fans by hand. Look carefully to see what's going.

If the heater fan than remove the cabin filters, and see if you can see something in there. Also stick a vaccuume cleaner hose in the cabin filter housing.

It may be a stuck leaf or something similar, so it will probably dry up and disintegrate on its own in a short time. Wait a few weeks and see if the noise goes away.

Of course it could also be something else, such as a failing relay, or the fan itself. Does the noise change with various fan speeds?

Cross reference your issue with this discussion:

Then get a diagnostic inspection from your Lexus service advisor or independent mechanic.

Thanks PFB, it was the heater fan and I took a vacuum to clean the cabin filters. I also
cranked the fan to its highest speed which also got rib of some debris. Thanks again for
the post.
