01 ES300 install aftermarket amp/sub to factory hu
Just ordered this for my car and should recieve within a week, would like to install asap once it arrives so i want to ask what id need to install to the factory hu.
http://www.mtx.com/xtl110p-mtx-car-subwoofer-enclosure
since its a amp/sub combo id like to stop using the factory amp/sub(obviously) but still keep the factory hu. what i was thinking is i could take the connector from the factory amp that runs to the hu and cut the wires (audio feed only) and run them to the new amp and splice/solder together some rca's to connect into the new amp.
the power for the new amp/sub would go to the battery and grounded in the nearest grounding point(i assume theres at least 1 in the trunk) and i believe there's an available accesory slot free in the driver side fuse box (correct me if im wrong).
this is just what i was thinking in THEORY.. but the reason i came here to post about it is so anyone with more knowledge can correct me if i missed anything or if im gonna need anything extra? id really like to avoid the whole loc to the back speakers method of things but if thats my only option for keeping the hu than id obviously have to.
p.s. if anyone has a COMPLETE wiring diagram for the amp connector id appreciate if u can share it.. i know theres one on the forum but a few of the wires werent labeled and id rather be safe than sorry.
