Default Too much for ES 330?

Firstly, as a newbie, please tell me if there is a more appropriate way/place to post these kinds of enquiries about prices for Lexus models for sale.

I am interested in an '05 ES 330 at a Lexus dealer near me that has 63,000 miles on it and is in exemplary condition. The car, however, is listed at $13,950. I am struck again and again at the prices Lexus dealers believe these older models are worthy of commanding. I have used various websites to try to gauge the potential "right" price for this car and it's not too far off from some estimates I got online. But what do you think?

Further, what price do you think would be fair to try to negotiate for this car? The dealership has an "elite" price that is not listed and of course says "contact us" on their website. I'm imagining this is a playing card the dealership uses to make it appear they are ready to "do me a favor" in negotiations by letting it go for, I don't know, $12,950 or something like that?

Thanks in advance for anyone's input....feel free to message me directly or post here.

Chiming in here as I don't see any replies yet. While I'm not too familiar with the going rates on the 4th generation ES (I'm a third generation guy), I would advise that if you are not looking for a certified preowned model, there's no reason to buy from the Lexus dealer and pay dealership prices. These are good, reliable cars and made in great numbers in fact, so as long as there are decent maintenance records on a similar model elsewhere (online, used car dealerships) I'd save a buck and pass on the dealership offerings, and find a great deal on a similar car elsewhere.

Personally, I wouldn't pay $14k for a ES330. I'd look at ES350 for that type of money.

I ran into the same thing except the local Lexus stealer wanted considerably more. Try a 2005 with 145k for 16,995. I ended up buying a ES330 with 188k for 9800. You'd never know it has this many miles on it without looking at the odometer. It could seriously pass for new both in appearance and performance.

I bought my '98 from a Lexus dealership (back in '04), I probably paid a little more than it would have been somewhere else (especially private party), but I was sick of looking and this car was pristine. I had just lost out on another perfect car the day before, so I decided to jump on it.

Lexus dealers will charge a premium because of the clientele they get, and they have to pay for all those big glassed showrooms. That being said, I would NOT pay that for an '05, regardless of the condition. Read up on the transmission complaints, it is the biggest complaint with mine. I would look for the next generation.

I looked at kbb.com and found that price in range , for a dealer. I lowball an offer at 12K if I really wanted the car and see if they call you back.
