Well I was able to reinstall my original stereo even without the LCD screen. The row of tiny wires going to the screen was either broken or I broke it but I was very careful. Anyway now, instead of a black screen I have a clear glass and that's all. There tunes still work as before so all I am out is the $25 and shipping. I am still looking for a stereo but not so bad that I will spring $375 for the only other one I see on eBay.

JohnOlson, did you mean that you ordered an entire replacement head unit in order to salvage the screen? Do you have a local salvage yard? When I went to replace my screen I took out the one from my radio and took it with me to the salvage yard. As I looked through the donor cars I immediately noticed that there are two possible connectors for the screen, even though they look the same. One connector was a plain ribbon cable (literally a flat cable that slid down into a slot), and the other had a pin type connector, male/female, that clicked together.
I cant recall which year cars had which radio/screen connector, but those were the only changes that mattered for me to get a working screen. Also if I had not looked and just pulled the first screen I found I could have made a mistake, as this was something anyone wouldn't have noticed until you went to actually connect it and realize that the connection points don't match.
Just try again, but I'd recommend going to a salvage yard instead of ordering.

Turtlepeas thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I bought a double din head unit used from eBay. I checked with my local wrecking yard first, about a month ago and they have no matching model... yet. I also tried swapping screens but those plugs are different too. At least I still have tunes while I search for a better solution. Thanks again!
