Help! The dreaded 'P0306' Code
Just yesterday, my 2000 ES abruptly started flashing a 'check engine' light and solid 'TRAC OFF' light and running incredibly rough. I put a code reader on it and it read "P0306 Cylinder 6 misfire". The first thing I did was replace the # 6 spark plug--Nothing. Then I switched the # 4 ignition coil with the # 6 ignition coil, which it still did nothing and displayed code "P0306 Cylinder 6 misfire", once again. So clearly, it's not the ignition coil or spark plug. My last resort, per the suggestion of the local auto parts store was to dump a bottle of $6 Lucas fuel injector cleaner into the gas tank. He said he was 80-90% sure this would clear things up. I was doubtful and I was right...It's still running like crap and flashing a P0306 code. Any suggestions, before I finally haul this thing off to a mechanic??

Surprisingly, it turned out to be TWO of the coil packs crapped out (#2 and # 6). Compression was all good. Mechanic changed em both out to the total cost of $240 for parts and labor. My ES is back to running like a champ again. I'm still not sure why my car only threw a code for # 6 misfiring. Oh well, problem solved...
