Default Question regarding engine

I need another engine on my lexus.

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't have the car with me right now and I need to know if all the engines from 94-95 are the same

will this fit my lex ? 1994 - 1995 LEXUS ES300 (1MZFE eng, VINV, 4th digit)

all engines are 1mzfe right?


please help !!!!!

94-95-96 all same
1mzfe
all aluminum
changed to vvt in 97 which has a different intake plenum
so yes you can drop a 95 in no problem

this is the info I have

1997 LEXUS ES300 ENGINE (selling me)

Engine will fit:

1994 - 1995 LEXUS ES300 (1MZFE eng, VINV, 4th digit)

is this possible?

from what i know that year engine will require alot of work to get in there
the block is identical but the head isn't as it has variable valve timing which is all in the head.
Unlike vtec for honda this doesn't use oil pressure to activate but 12volts to run a solenoid from the computer( lots of wiring)
you could use the new block and swap the old head onto it if it is in no need of repair
the intake is a different also if i am not mistaken but doen't quote me on that

wait wait wait. this will make it easier:

What year is your Lexus?? not all ES's are 1mzfe. even if they were, the 1mz changed quite a bit over the years. For easiest swapping/install, get the same year engine (w/ low miles, of course) as your car! if you want a newer engine, well....then we can get technical here. How's your tranny holding up, btw?

The 97 have a different intake plenum, yes, but the full VVT-i system did not appear until the 1999 cars.
As far as I know, the 94-96 cars have an identical version of the 1MZ-FE, the original 188HP iteration.

quite right guys ( and girls )
the engine blocks stay the same all aluminum to right now not sure about the new 330's though
pre 94, 92-93 had a cast iron lump in them
and the i for intelligence on vvt-i did change in 99
don't forget you can use the camry v-6 also
they all use the 1mz-fe engine code but 94-96 are exactly the same as yours no changes just plug and play

Wrong. ES300 adapted VVT-i to the 1MZ-FE in 99. They technically aren't all the same considering 94-95 and 96 and up used a different distributorless ignition layout...and 97 on up used a different MAF setup and etc.

94-96 and 97-98 had the same intake plenum. The only difference is the EGR equipment using different fittings and ports.

That's right because the ES300 aka Toyota Windom is built on the Camry chassis.

Actually 94-95 and the 96 aren't exactly the same. As I explained earlier, Toyota decided to utilize the new 3 coilpack setup during that generation model (Gen3 Camry) or Gen3 ES (or Gen2 if you don't count the ES250) if you will.

hell we all can always learn some more
but don't 94-95-and 96 all have the coils on the plug?
so just in those three years it can be swapped between each other?
not every other year or any other year just them?
as i am saying 94-96 are not like any others for dropping in

I know the 1996 is OBDII compliant, that was the year OBDII became the industry standard. Are the 94-95 OBDI or II?

The first ever production engine in the world to be OBDII compliant is the 1MZ-FE V6 since it's introduction for MY 1994. 2 years before it became the industry standard.
