1992 es300 running hot

Would a bad power steering pump make the car run hot within 5min?

It's possible. The radiator fan is operated by power steering fluid pumped from the PS pump to the fan. Lack of flow to the fan could result in a non-operative or slowly turning fan. This could result in over-heated coolant.

I don't think the radiator fan is belt driven on an ES.
