Default What do I need to do to a 2000 ES with 94k miles? (WITH PICTURES!)

Hey guys. Purchased a platinum 00 ES with 94k miles recently and was wondering what I should do to it to keep her healthy?

The timing belt and drive belt(s) were replaced at 90k, air filter and battery at 93. Everything has been done at the dealership and the fluids are full and look pretty fresh. I planned on changing the spark plugs and giving her an oil change with Mobil 1 next week. Anything else I should consider? The brakes and Michelin tires are also good.

P.S...best spark plugs for an ES?

P.P.S...good OEM sites besides SewellParts?

She's millennium silver with black interior. Pretty good condition considering the age but there's light body marks I need to take care of. Also need to clean up the seats. One owner and a clean title

If not already one so, change the PCV. An easy DIY 10 min job, but very important to perform.

Also, i don't believe that you're due for sparkplugs yet. Check your owners manual to confirm.

I've never heard of this part. can I get any generic brand from an auto parts store?

the owners manual says I don't have to change the spark plugs until 120,000 miles

The PCV valve is about $6 at Napa or O'Reilly, etc. Generic part. Hose may be old and brittle so pay attention to that when removing and replace that if necessary, too. Keep a look out at all times for hard/brittle hoses by feeling them (or soft/ bulging ones on the radiator and heater valve). Replace them before deteriorating further.

I thought plus were 100k interval but pull some on the front and just look at them. You can google "how to read a spark plug." When the time comes, the best replacement will be the NGK oe plug - long life/100k one spec'd for the car.

I would find out when transmission fluid, PS fluid, brake fluid last changed. I like to do each at 30k miles - not full tranny flush, just drain/fill.

Wow almost an identical car to mine except minus black interior and platinum edition, plus mine is a year newer. Good luck with the new ride! Looks in great shape!

Looks great! I have the same year and color combo, but mine isn't a Platinum. I think New Millennium Silver on Black Leather is the slickest and most timeless color combo the ES3 ever had. Some people still look surprised when I tell them my ES is almost 15 years old lol. The woodgrain used on the Platinum and Coach edition really "pops" compared to the standard woodgrain on the regular models. Congrats! Looks like you found a pristine and well-cared for ES!

I'm about to replace the PCV valve on my 2000 ES and the local Lexus dealership quoted me almost $25. Called Toyota with the same part number and was quoted $11. If you have a Toyota dealership nearby, just ask for part # 12204-20020.

Thank you everyone. I'll try to snap some pics of her new tint job this weekend. I might start a new thread and update it with every new mod. She's already turning heads

PDX any reason your not getting a generic part?

Oh yeah the pumps that hold the hood open are going out. I'm in no rush to replace them though unless generic ones are cheap and it's an easy fix

If I can find an OEM part for not much more $ than aftermarket, I usually will get it. This part probably isn't that critical, but it's always nice to have the reassurance and satisfaction of an OEM part.

Got you PDX. I just installed a PUROLATOR PCV Valve from Advance Auto Parts. I'm thinking I'm gonna go ahead and do the spark plugs tomorrow! I know the manual says 120,000 miles but it's not starting instantly like I want it to when I turn the key
