Talking System....

Hey everyone,
I just got back from Mobile One and arranged for my system install on monday. I'm getting the Alpine CDA-7897 head unit, 2 12 inch Alpine Type R subs, and a Rockford Fosgate 801s Amp.
I can't wait. Any opinions on this setup?

looks good, but what about the mids & highs? You can't forget those. some nice 6 1/2 in the front and a good set of 6x9's in the rear. I'd put components up in the doors and some kicking 6x9's in the back. You might even want to add an amp a battery and a capacitor. Just my opinion in the road to a GOOD sounding system. If you go with the set up I mentioned Not only will you FEEL the bass, but you'll know what they are saying and can hear sounds in songs you previously didn't know were there. Good luck.

Default mid's and highs

Included in my plan are boston components up front and boston 6x9's in the rear, it's just another $300 to spend. My budget for the whole system was $2000 and with speakers it's $2300 so i need a bit more cash. Mobile one also threw in a capacitor, lightining audio i think.

wow that much for your system, bit of my advices, save money by getting your stuff WAY cheaper online, and do the install by yourself, thats if you feel safe and confident, and also you can always ask for help here on cl. good luck, just my opinion since i like saving as much money as possible.

BigghookUp does have a VERYgood point. You could tally up the partd on-line, see how much it is, and then take it to them to install. Or do it yourself. Try and shop around first, compare and wee what you get before plunking down that kinda change. I got mine done at Earmark. They have really good prices if you "know" them, but the installers are "TOP NOTCH". Good luck and let us know what you do. What part of Texas are you in?

I live just north of Houston in a suburb called The Woodlands. I don't really think the guy's giving me that bad of a deal. Originally he wanted $700 for the head unit but i'm gettin it for $475. He knocked money off here and there too. I think I'll end up installing the speakers myself, I just wanted a pro to do the other things so that I get it done right.

Thats what I pretty much did. I can do speakers, and the head unit, no prob. But when it comes to wiring the amp and the other crap, I usually let them do it. But if a friend asks for me to put one intheir car, i don't mind. Weird, isn't it?
