Default Electrical Nightmare! Help!

Hey guys,
So I was driving my car (2000 es300) the day before yesterday when my dashboard lights and head/taillights started pulsating noticeably. 30seconds after the pulsating happened my car turned off and i had 0 electrical power in it (couldn't even turn the blinkers on)

So i had the car towed to a shop where they replaced the alternator and the battery.

I drove the car for about 20minutes and then when i got home and turned it off the started remained and tried to start the car (ITS STUCK ON) the only way to prevent it from spinning is to disconnect the battery.

Any advice on what to do? I dont want to connect the battery again because im afraid my starter will burn out.

HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks

Update. The starter has been replaced and the car seems to be okay.

The only strange things are: when i get above 3000rpms my interior and exterior lights get super bright and have a slight flicker.

Could the rebuilt alternator be bad as well?

Any ideas/suggestions? (The mechanics diagnostics say everything is fine)

Yes, that's very likely. Lots of people report high failure rates with rebuild alternators; they aren't very careful about testing them or even verifying parts compatibility according to the "word on the street."

Try replacing that with another (return it), but a better bet is getting your old one back, and having it rebuilt locally by an auto electric shop.

I went through 3 alternators in a week from O'Rileys on my father in law's Subaru, they were rebuilt. I think they do some testing and replace the bare minimum of parts when they do the rebuilds. I would think stuff like old Diodes usually get left in (which can fail)

Alternator will not cut out power completely. My car did the same thing. I used volt meter to check at the battery terminal and connection one by one and on where there is a connections. You will find where there is no voltage. Remove and clean it. Of course, do this when you lost power. Power may not cut out long enough for you. Anyway, I found positive connections was the problem. Removed, sand, clean, and electrical grease. There are two connections at each terminal.

Sorry I did not read the second part after the shop replaced starter and battery. The power cut out intermittently, so the shop may replaced a perfect working parts. And they found out, it was not it . Now you have new and defective part.
