Default Best way to clean the power socket nipple?

Mine is corroded and it's hard to get anything to connect and stay connected. Is there a preferred cleaning method/cleaner? Should I coat it with grease after cleaning?

Thanks

I assume you're taking about the 12V power outlet socket. The best way to clean its internal contacts is with a small pencil eraser. When done, remove or vacuum out any left over eraser pieces.

Once clean, you can than spray some plastic safe electrical contact cleaner on its contacts.

+1 on the pencil eraser.

You can also use electrical contact cleaner, or if its really corroded some sandpaper/ emery cloth to abrade the connection.

Gonna try the pencil eraser and contact cleaner first. I did think about sand paper or a Dremel with a suitable attachment but thought there might be a special coating on it like silver to enhance the contact and I didn't want to remove it completely. Guess if push come to shove I can just replace it.
