Default question on rear window tint (2002 es300)

Just bought a 2002 es300 from Lexus dealer (52,800 miles) and part of the deal was to have them (the dealer) tint all five windows. Upon completion, I was shown the rear window area around the top.

He pointed out that that particular model has "bumps" along the top of the rear window and it sometimes gives them trouble when attempting to tint. It looks like the tint is slowing beginning to stick like it should, but there is still patches that has not taken to the tint yet. It has been 5 days since the tint was installed. The weather has been mostly rainy and humid.

I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with the rear window tint not properly sticking to the "bumps"?

if you car talking about the top strip, of the rear window, yep my tints are never, ever going to attach into those hollows. It's dimpled, but I think a pattern of holes would be a better way of saying it.

It doesn't look great, to be honest, but it's not the company that did my tints fault, I just have to live with it or remove the rear screen and have it stripped, a new heating strip applied, and re-tinted.

.. this (1999) car is just to old for that kind of work to be done, besides, it's not that bad,

I have a 99' ES as well and have had no problems whatsoever with the tint of the windows. Maybe this problem is specific to your newer Lexus

I agree that I can probably live with it, my wife ,on the other hand... not so much. You mentioned to "remove the rear screen and have it stripped, a new heating strip applied, and re-tinted"... I'm not sure I follow you on that. That sounds like an expensive, big ha$$le

does the top of your rear window have the "dimples" or little "holes" going all the way across it?

I took a closer look and I see what you are talking about.
I always thought this was part of the design lol.

As long as it doesn't cause any of the rest of the tint to become "un-glued", I am okay with it.. (it may be me, but each day that goes by it seems like the tint is taking to the glass little by little)....

I've got the same dimple pattern on both my 05 ES and 99 Solara. Since the tint isn't sticking inside the dimples you can see it from outside, but it doesn't bother me and has been holding up fine for more than 2 years.

That is good to hear. As long as it holds up and doesn't cause what already is "glued down" to become "unglued", I'll be a happy camper (and again, it will take my wife a little longer to come to terms with it).

i appreciate your reply to my post!
