Hello everyone, I have a dilemma. I have a 2003 es300 with 160k on it.
I have had it for 2 years and emissions is now due. Went to emissions today
and failed the OBD2. The car runs great. Never stalls and always starts. Small leak in flex pipe,but I
don't think that is the problem. Never unhooked the battery. They said I should come back
in about a week after I drive it so it goes through the proper drive cycles. My question is, what difference will that make if I have been driving the same in the past? Will I not get the same results?
I should mention that I live in Ct. Any help would be great!

drive cycles ? um ... that's nonsensical.
OBD2 = On Board Diagnostic (system) version 2. So, that part of your question seems confused. It doesn't actually relate to emission testing.
Whether or not you have unhooked the battery will not make much difference.

How did it fail ? Why did it fail ? what aspect of the test did it fail on ?
That information would help, because the type of emission it's over producing indicates what is wrong with the car.

Suggestions
Fix the exhaust leak. (why wouldn't you ?)
Replace the Air Filter. (if blocked / full will cause extra emissions/rich running).
Take the car to a company which can run diagnostics on the fuel and o2 sensors while the car is running to see they are operating correctly (they are a consumable sensor).
I would place money on the exhaust leak and an o2 sensor being part of the issue.
