Selling Mom's ES250, trying to figure out the value...
Mom was recently surprised with a new (to her) car, so the 1991 Lexus ES250 that she's had since the 1990's is going up for sale. The problem I'm having is figuring out a good asking price, since there are so few of these for sale on ebay, autotrader, etc. It's in decent condition, has 160k miles on it, no accidents, and has had most of its work done at the dealership. We have records going back all the way until it was new. Known issues are the common raised trunk lid and the power door locks not working, but otherwise it runs and drives fine, AC works, etc. I put a feeler up on CL a few days ago and have had a few bites, but am curious as to what people think the value might be. I'd appreciate any feedback/comments. Thanks!

Reason: remove sales link
Like above, try KBB but what sets this apart from the other ES250s I've seen is the condition. This one looks incredibly well kept compared to 90% of the ones I've seen for sale before. I'd price it at $3000 and see what happens
what you decide to value it at won't be too far off a 1992 with similar mileage. Clean it up, show a folder of your receipts and qualify your ad with "or best offer".
Also, as an alternative depending on your mom's taxable income, it might be worth it to donate it to a charity of her choice for a deduction. It saves the hassle of finding the "right" buyer and inviting tire kickers over.
Post for $2,500 and accept anything above $1,000. Someone must be really in love with this car in order to spend time making it road worthy again, when their same $2,000 can go towards a car 10 years newer.
"Road worthy again"?
Not sure I follow, the car has new tabs, and runs fine. Pretty sure that makes it road worthy now.
Not sure about your county but here there are safety certifications and emissions testing that have to be passed before a vehicle can be registered as "fit" after changing owners. Even if your car needs new brake pads or wiper blades for example, its still an expense that a new owner would have to foot.
